I sure do love the smell and feel of an afternoon summer thunderstorm. However, rainy days + little boys that love to play outside can = bummer. Making lemonade out of our rainy Monday lemons, we took advantage of the gray of the afternoon and added a splash of color to our world by painting in the rain.
(Thank goodness for covered car ports!)
No rainy day would be complete without running out into the raindrops. |
Max is a big fan of painting. And today, I tried a new finger painting technique using makeup sponges to (try to) create a smaller mess:
Supplies Needed: Makeup sponges, WASHable paint, & paper!
Excited-to-paint face! |
Once the makeup sponges were dipped in the paint (by Mama), they were perfect for little fingers to use to finger paint. |
Caught him red-handed! :) |
What a beautiful mess! |
Is there something on my nose?! |
Final verdict: the makeup sponge-technique did not lead to a smaller mess... But in my opinion, 3/4 of the fun of painting is the mess, so I considered our activity a success! And the rainy atmosphere just added to the greatness of it all.
